* WINDS... WEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH.
* TIMING... EAST WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE WEST LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING AS A COLD FRONT CROSSES THE REGION. THE STRONGEST WIND GUSTS ARE EXPECTED BETWEEN 600 PM AND 100 AM... AND WINDS COULD START TO DIMINISH A BIT TOWARD 400 AM. HOWEVER... WIND SPEEDS ARE THEN EXPECTED TO PICK UP AGAIN ON SATURDAY. HENCE THE ADVISORY HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH SATURDAY.
* IMPACTS... STRONG WIND GUSTS CAN KNOCK DOWN TREE LIMBS AND POSSIBLY SOME WEAKER TREES... AND ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES MAY OCCUR. THE WINDS WILL MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND OTHER ELEVATED ROADWAYS.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
MOTORISTS SHOULD USE EXTRA CAUTION... ESPECIALLY THOSE IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. LIGHT-WEIGHT OUTDOOR OBJECTS SUCH AS PATIO FURNITURE AND GARBAGE CANS SHOULD BE SECURED.
